There are two advantages of having a living will drawn up by a notary: banks will acknowledge the trusted representative you have nominated, and this person will receive the necessary legal authorisation required to handle your affairs and act on your behalf.
A living will is valid during your lifetime and therefore does not apply to what happens to your possessions after your death. That can be arranged by writing a will.
